When my baby was going through his first foods, I went through a whole feeding session (or more) researching on baby food processors.
I knew from the get-go that I wanted to make home made nutritious food for my baby but I also didn’t want to drive myself crazy — hence food processors to the rescue!
Here were a few of my favourites while researching!
AMZBaby Chef Baby Food maker is one of the rare ones that is dishwasher safe perfect for busy mums! It’s cute and compact size makes it perfect for even small counter tops. Also comes with safety features that will not allow any blending unless the cap is secured in place, the 2L capacity is just enough to make a couple of extra portions to be frozen for later!
A 5 in 1 processor, this processor is perfect for the busy parent who still wants to make time to home make baby’s first purees!
It also comes with a low water reminder that makes it extra safe! The capacity of it is roughly 300 ml — just the right amount for you to feed your little one , plus have extras for freezing!
The screen on this is right on top , making it slightly more convenient when monitoring the cooking process!
Crafted using food grade PP material, it makes Chef Handy an odourless and safe addition to your kitchen!
A little more functional and a little more cutesy than a typical hand processor, the Phydge is a sleek little monster that’s a perfect addition to your counter top! BPA free and dishwasher safe, rest assured everything will be healthy and clean for your baby!
It may not look as fancy as a food processor, it has 8 blades ensuring that all the food in the bowl gets effectively pureed! A straightforward tool for a quick baby meal prep , it comes attached with a glass bowl that is weighty and solid and makes cleaning a breeze!
Generally, steaming foods will soften the food which will ensure it blends into a smoother puree. So I definitely found having processor that has steaming abilities helped me so much more! Hey if I’m multi-tasking, my appliances better be able to multi-task too!
However, for foods that are already soft in nature (like bananas and mangoes) , I didn’t always steam them , I went right ahead and mashed them with a fork . Example BANANAS! Super easy to mash and plus points is that baby is sure to love the naturally sweet flavour of them!
A simple but non-exhaustive list of foods that will make the perfect puree:
Fruits
- Banana (easily mashable , always a good first choice)
 - Mango (Indian mangoes are delicious and naturally sweet)
 - Pear (can be boiled and pureed for a sweeter taste)
 - Berries (Strawberries, Blueberries, raspberries and the such)
 - Avocado (Steam before mashing and mixing it with a little milk will give it a creamy delicious texture)

Vegetables
- Broccoli
 - Sweet potato
 - Potatoes
 - Carrots (baby carrots are the obvious choice but normal sized carrots, diced smaller will also be just fine)
 - Pumpkin / butternut squash

Tips:
- Making a large batch of Puree to be frozen and re-heated is fine but make sure to follow re-heating rules.
 - Also, ensure that you’re only freezing PURE puree and not puree that you’ve mixed with any sort of milk (you can add milk later on when it’s thawed and ready to be consumed)

I hope this guide has been informative and a little bit helpful in easing your way through your first baby’s solid food!
Good luck Mama’s!
